The 8th ITS Hellas Conference ‘Transportation & Logistics 2022: Research. Reshape. Innovate’ was successfully completed in December 7th and 8th, in the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. ITS Hellas (the Greek Organization for Intelligent Transport Systems) succeeded once again in bringing together the academic, business and research community and co ordinating a productive dialogue on the future of transport and logistics, -a future where all transport, people and goods will be smart, green and sustainable.
Organized by ITS Hellas (Hellenic Organization for Intelligent Transport Systems) and the ISENSE research group of ICCS/ NTUA, with the support of the EU Delegation in Greece, the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy, and the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the conference’s rich agenda included more than 40 speakers, 6 main sessions, 15 sponsors and exhibitors.
The conference was prefaced with greetings on behalf of ITS Hellas: by Dr. Georgia Ayfantopoulou, Director of Research of HIT/CERTH and President of ITS Hellas and Dr. Angelos Amditis, Director of Research & Development of ICCS (organizing body) Vice President of ITS Hellas, Vice President of OASA . An official greeting was also addressed (remotely) by Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos, Deputy Minister responsible for Transport issues of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The way that policies for research and innovation support the economic development of the country were analysed in the speech of the representative of Mr. Athanasios Kyriazis, Secretary General of Research and Innovation. Ms. Eleni Paleologu, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Commission in Greece, also addressed a written greeting.
Representatives of the political leadership, such as Mr. Efthimios Bakoyannis, General Secretary of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and Mr. Ioannis Xifaras, Secretary General of Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, participated in the rich program that spanned across 2 days . The municipal authorities were represented by Mr. Grigoris Constantellos, Mayor of Voula, Vari, Vouliagmeni, and Mr. Nikos Komineas, Mayor of Astypalaia. The Conference agenda included also many other prominent speakers from the academic and research community as well as the business world.
These two days succeeded in giving life to our common vision towards a sustainable, green and interconnected transport system for our country. And it is a goal that ITS Hellas could not achieve without the valuable contribution of its members and the wider transport and logistics ecosystem in Greece.
