I-SENSE Group Participates in EU Green Week 2026 Cluster Workshop on Circular Manufacturing

The I-SENSE Group, coordinator of the Wood2Wood Project, proudly participated in the RECAP Cluster workshop held as part of EU Green Week 2026 in Brussels, Belgium.

The workshop, titled “From End-of-Life to Lease-of-Life: Circularity in Action”, brought together leading Horizon Europe projects to showcase how advanced technologies can accelerate the transition towards a more circular and sustainable European industry.

Representing Wood2Wood project, Dr. Fotios Konstantinidis, Division Leader of Industry 5.0 & Smart Manufacturing at I-SENSE Group, delivered a presentation entitled: “Advanced Separation, Sorting Technologies for Construction and Demolition Waste Valorisation”.

During his presentation, Dr. Konstantinidis highlighted how innovative technologies developed within the Wood2Wood Project—including Artificial Intelligence, advanced sensing systems, Digital Twins, and robotic sorting solutions—can significantly improve the recovery, separation, and valorisation of construction and demolition waste, transforming waste streams into valuable secondary resources.

The event gathered representatives from several Horizon Europe initiatives, including BIO4EEB, CompSTLar, ICARUS, and iBot4CRMs projects fostering valuable discussions on the role of AI, robotics, digital twins, circular materials, and industrial innovation in supporting Europe’s green transition.

The workshop also conveyed a key message aligned with both EU Green Week and World Environment Day: while the technologies required to close material loops already exist, greater market adoption and stronger business incentives are needed to unlock their full potential and accelerate the circular economy.

Special thanks to all project representatives, speakers, and contributors for the fruitful exchange of ideas and insights, including Antonio Ferrández García, Irene García Martínez, Marc W., Maria Alejandra Moreno Beguerisse, Anna Brékine, and Abhimanyu Chakravorty.

The Wood2Wood Project remains committed to advancing innovative solutions that support sustainable manufacturing, resource efficiency, and circular value chains across Europe.
