I-SENSE Group Annual Conference was successfully completed in Spetses

Once again, our team meets to celebrate another successful year, full of new horizons, projects and accomplishments. The team’s spirit thrived in three days full of research, interesting presentations, discussions, social events and activities in the beautiful setting of Spetses island. A wonderful occasion to celebrate also 20 spectacular years in research, a long journey powered by enthusiasm for technology, strong vision for the smart societies of the future, fed with inspiration and creativity, led by excellent researchers – without them nothing would have been possible!

Our team had also the honour to enjoy the presence of special and high level guests: Prof Ioannis Psaras, Director of ICCS, Prof Ioannis Vasileiou, former Director of ICCS, Konstantinos Chaniotis, President of ILME and ITS Hellas, Managing Director at Telenavis S.A  and Athanasios Lambropoulos, Head of the municipality council of Spetses. 

Dr Angelos Amditis, Research and Development Director of ICCS and our Director gave a inspiring speech pointing to recent accomplishments and highlighting the Group’s history, a route of 20 years in research in the fields of intelligent network systems, smart integrated systems, virtual reality etc. In his speech, Professor Ioannis Psaras, representing ICCS, the umbrella institution for I-SENSE, focused on the wider environment surrounding our successful route throughout the years and congratulated all for their hard work. Konstantinos Chaniotis, President of ILME gave an interesting speech on how to create successful links  between research, business and innovation, that was followed by fruitful discussions. It was also a pleasure for all to have with us Athanasios Labropoulos, the head of the town council of Spetses, who talked about a promising collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, ICCS and ISENSE, with the aim to resolve local traffic issues and suggest new mobility schemes for the island.

The agenda was rich. Commercialization Potential of CMSS results. Overview of ongoing 5G Standardization activities (and how to transform a research idea to a standards contribution) From Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 under the principles of Circular Economy.Comparing Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0 principles, the role of data and IIoT. IIoT platform presentation and next steps. The role of Traceability and digital product passports in Circular economy. The role of satellite and in-situ observation fusion in environmental monitoring. XR in Industry 5.0 – The CirculAR approach.

This year we also had the pleasure to participate in the Spetses Mini Marathon  – an event with a global dimension as it hosts athletes from 42 different countries and has rightly been designated a “station” in Sports Tourism-. More than 40 ISENSE researchers wore our team’s T-shirt, participated in the Mini Marathon (5K race) and brought great results. ‘What moves you Defines you’ was the moto of our participation and the race started, whereas the big winner was the spirit and dedication -as in research!
