DRIC Defkalion was featured on Greek TV

The Disaster Resilience Innovation Cluster DRIC Defkalion has been featured on ERT3 Greek TV during the 9th International Conference on Civil Protection & New Technologies SafeThessaloniki2022, which took place from September 29 to October 1, 2022 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Eleftherios Ouzounoglou, Project Manager of I-SENSE Research Group of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), the coordinating organisation of the Cluster, talked about the objectives, main goals and activities of DRIC Defkalion. The cluster participated in the Conference as a Silver Sponsor aiming to highlight the importance of developing innovative solutions in the critical area of protection, management and response to natural disasters, environmental crises and Civil Protection emergencies. DRIC Defkalion participated also with a booth, while two paper presentations were given by I-Sense Group team titled “AEOLIAN: A New Crowdsourcing Solution to Enhance Preparedness and Response to Natural and Anthropogenic Hazards” and “Interoperability in Crisis Management: Specifications for Digital Scenarios to Enhance Acquisition of Triage Information during Search and Rescue Operations” respectively.

 

DRIC Defkalion brings together businesses, scientific research organisations, and technology companies focused on developing products, systems, and services for the management and response to natural disasters and emergencies in the field of civil protection. More specifically, the cluster aims to join forces, enhance know-how, and put into practice experience to advance knowledge in the disaster risk management area, introduce new products & services to the market, and intermediate research results, such as product prototypes and patents.

Its participation in SafeThessaloniki2022 was productive as it was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices with people from Science and Technology, Local Governments and Central Administration, Private Sector and Voluntary Organizations from Greece and abroad. The main goals of the Conference were focused on:

– strengthening interdisciplinarity and cooperation in Civil Protection,

– demonstrating new technological achievements for the benefit of Civil Protection,

– exchanging of experience, lessons learned and good practices,

– discussing contemporary challenges about Civil Protection

– standardization activities in Europe and lessons learned
