On 7–8 July 2026, Wood2Wood project partners convened at ENSTIB in Épinal, France, for the project’s latest General Assembly. The meeting’s goal was to review project progress, strengthen collaboration across work packages, and define the next steps toward achieving the project’s objectives.
It provided an important opportunity for partners to assess the project’s achievements during the current reporting period and align activities for the months ahead. Discussions focused on project management, technical progress, financial and reporting updates, quality assurance, risk management, and the roadmap towards the remaining milestones and deliverables.
A key highlight was the fascinating visit to ENSTIB premises which an engineering school entirely devoted to wood science and technology, and home to the LERMAB research laboratory). LERMAB is doing outstanding work on wood characterisation and valorisation, and the consortium had the chance to tour in their facilities and see first-hand the equipment dedicated to steam explosion, gasification and other thermochemical processes for woody biomass. It was truly inspiring to see such a concentration of wood-focused research and infrastructure gathered in one place.
