Call for contributions on the topic “Recent Advances and Technologies in Emergency Response, Security and Disaster Management Applications” to MDPI journals

The Call for the submission of manuscripts on the topic “Recent Advances and Technologies in Emergency Response, Security and Disaster Management Applications” to one of the MDPI’s participating journals Applied Sciences, Drones, Information, Remote Sensing and Sensors is open. The topic is led by the researchers of our team Evangelos Maltezos, Eleftherios Ouzounoglou, Panagiotis Michalis and Angelos Amditis and the collaborators Stefanos Vrochidis from EKETA, Norman Kerle from ITC and Christos Ntanos from NTUA.

The topic focuses on research and technologies capable of enhancing levels of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery in emergencies and disasters. More specifically, it focuses on highlighting research carried out in the field of crisis management planning and technological developments and applications related to IoT, edge computing, digital twins, machine learning, computer vision, embedded systems, emergency communications, and integrated sensors and platforms, which can play an important role in hazard monitoring, forecasting and prediction, disaster risk assessment, communication and preparedness activities, systems, and processes which enable individuals, communities, governments, businesses, and others to take timely action to reduce disaster risks in advance of hazardous events.

Our researchers invite the submission of manuscripts that focus either on research or on disaster and crisis management applications. The deadline for abstracts is March 20, 2024 and for manuscripts is May 20, 2024. More information is available here: https://www.mdpi.com/topics/6BR5EU7HGW
