Dr. Tina Katina, division leader of the Immersive and Spatial Systems in I-SENSE Group of ICCS, attended EU AgRI 2040 Conference that took place 24-25 September 2026 in Brussels.
On the 2nd day, Dr. Tina Katika delivered a pitch presentation on RURBANIVE project’s key areas of research and explained it’s main objectives and expected impact.
As stated during the presentation, RURBANIVE is an EU-funded research project which translates innovations that facilitate rural–urban synergies into XR demonstrators, immersive campaigns and replicable services (shortening value chains, circular bioeconomy, ecosystem restoration, and more practical matters that affect synergies).
RURBANIVE supports farmers, foresters and rural actors with context-specific tools to visualise value chains, resource loops and local opportunities, it enables new knowledge and uptake of practices through AR/VR learning scenarios, virtual guidance and visual dashboards and provides safe spaces to visualize research advancements: compare routes, flows, costs, environmental effects and stakeholder impacts. Last but not least the project contributes to policy and monitoring through participatory feedback from rural–urban communities and evidence-rich local scenarios through the Community of Practice Suite.
