On 30 June – 1 July 2026, the TERRAVISION consortium gathered in Zaragoza, Spain, for a two-day technical workshop hosted by project partner Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA), who ensured excellent local arrangements and a collaborative atmosphere throughout the meeting.
As the coordinator of TERRAVISION – one of our flagship Earth and Space Systems Intelligence (ESSI) projects – the I-SENSE Group of ICCS organised the workshop, with the project’s day-to-day manager, Chrysoula Papathanasiou on site in Zaragoza to lead the discussions, while other members of our ESSI team contributed remotely, alongside partners joining from across Europe.
The workshop focused on aligning the consortium on the project’s overall goals and expected outcomes, bridging conceptual gaps, jointly addressing technical challenges, and defining the next steps towards the implementation of the TERRAVISION platform.
The discussions and presentations covered the platform’s backend architecture, focusing on end-to-end workflows that are currently being integrated, as well as frontend integration aspects, before diving into each of the TERRAVISION services and indices. These included raw material exploration, dynamic hazard maps and ground motion products, primary and secondary raw material mapping, the Raw Material Spectral Knowledge Base, and the environmental, sustainability and resilience indices. Through live demonstrations of the current status of the different platform components, partners reviewed progress and discussed the remaining technical challenges and next steps.
Through these constructive discussions, the consortium established a common direction and identified the priorities that will guide the work in the coming months. A consolidated set of action points, covering agreed actions, responsible partners, and target deadlines per task, now serves as a high-level roadmap towards the next General Assembly, planned for early October 2026 in Thessaloniki.
