The OPTIMINER consortium came together in Katowice, Poland, on 30 June–1 July 2026 for the project’s 3rd General Assembly, hosted by the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute (GIG-PIB). Bringing together project partners both in person and online, the meeting marked an important milestone as the project completed its first 18 months of activities, providing an opportunity to reflect on the progress made so far and shape the project’s next steps.
Over two days of presentations and discussions, partners shared updates from across the project. The agenda covered advances in CRM recovery processes, intelligent ore sorting, digital twins, the DIGIMINER platform, sustainability assessment, as well as dissemination and exploitation activities. A dedicated technical workshop also helped strengthen collaboration across Work Packages and align upcoming activities as the project moves into its next phase. Part of the workshop was dedicated to the demo case in Chile, giving the consortium the opportunity to discuss with the Chilean partners their activities on site.
The meeting concluded with a visit to the facilities of OPTIMINER’s new partner, Comex Group, in Oświęcim. Participants learned more about the company’s technologies and explored the OPTIMINER demonstrator during a guided tour, offering valuable insight into the project’s practical developments.
The discussions were led by Christina Stefani on behalf of the I-SENSE Group of ICCS, the project coordinator. The consortium would like to thank GIG-PIB for hosting the General Assembly and for their excellent organisation, which contributed to a productive and successful meeting.
