I-SENSE brings V2X expertise to the CERTAIN General Assembly and Use Cases workshop

The CERTAIN consortium met online on 9 June 2026 for its second General Assembly, marking the close of the project’s first year. The I-SENSE Group of ICCS joined the meeting remotely, contributing to the review of results across all work packages and to the planning of the project’s next phase, as CERTAIN moves from defining its methodology towards demonstrating it in practice.

CERTAIN supports the development of an integrated, robust and harmonised Safety Assurance Framework for Automated Driving Systems (ADS), addressing key challenges in safety assurance and regulatory acceptance to enable the wider deployment of automated driving technologies across Europe.

On 11 June, the I-SENSE team also participated in the online Use Cases workshop, where the project’s 12 use cases that will put CERTAIN’s Safety Assurance Framework to the test were presented and debated. I-SENSE presented tow use case: V2X.1 – Perception information to truck driver and PG and Hybrid V2X Validation with Real Hardware, that address a question at the heart of CERTAIN: how to assess the safety of automated driving functions that depend not only on a vehicle’s own sensors, but on information exchanged with infrastructure and other road users. Evidence from these scenarios will feed directly into the development and validation of the project’s Safety Assurance Framework, a key step towards the harmonised, EU-wide safety assurance that large-scale ADS deployment requires.
