From Fragments to Insights: The SciLake project closed with a vision for Open Scientific Knowledge

Three years of collaborative research came to an end and resulted in a half-day online event showcasing how Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKGs) can tackle one of research’s most persistent problems: fragmented, hard-to-find knowledge.

SciLake project aspired to tackle the fragmentation, diversity, and disorganization of scientific knowledge, which hinders discovery and the extraction of valuable insights needed for informed decision-making in research. By offering an environment to assist scientists transform domain knowledge into standardized and interoperable Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKGs) and enable the creation and use of value-added services built upon them.

The closing event held on 10 March 2026, brought together researchers, technologists, and open science advocates to showcase practical solutions built over three years of collaboration. At the heart of SciLake’s work: a customizable ecosystem of components that empower domain experts to build Scientific Knowledge Graphs (SKGs).

Our Athanasios Ballis represented I-SENSE Group and presented the CCAM Transport pilot results.  In case you wish to watch the event again, you can find the recording, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1SdWi_WK5Q
