Our researchers recently travelled to Zaragoza, Spain, to take part in the 5th General Assembly of CARDIMED EU. The three-day meeting brought together project partners to exchange knowledge, review progress, and strengthen collaboration across the consortium.
CARDIMED aims to strengthen the resilience of Mediterranean regions against climate change by combining Nature-based Solutions (NbS), digital tools, citizen engagement, and holistic modelling.
The Assembly’s agenda included updates on CARDIMED’s demonstration sites and citizen science initiatives, discussions on regional climate adaptation challenges, and strategic sessions on exploitation, financing, replication, and monitoring. Partners also worked together on community co-design and capacity-building activities, highlighting the importance of engaging local stakeholders in shaping effective and sustainable solutions.
A particularly inspiring part of the Assembly was the technical visits in Teruel, including the renaturalized school CEIP Juan Sobrarias and nearby forest areas, which showcased concrete examples of climate adaptation in practice.
The General Assembly was an important opportunity to reinforce CARDIMED’s mission of building climate-resilient Mediterranean regions and to continue fostering meaningful collaboration with local and regional actors. We extend our sincere thanks to all partners and hosts for their valuable contributions and hospitality.
