The proposal for the BioClima project, designed to advance biodiversity and climate monitoring through EU-China collaboration, is developed with a keen awareness of ethical considerations. It ensures compliance with all applicable international, EU, and national ethical standards, particularly in data collection, analysis, and sharing across borders. The project emphasises the responsible handling of sensitive environmental data, prioritising the protection of natural habitats and ensuring the ethical involvement of communities and stakeholders in research activities. By adopting such a comprehensive ethical framework, BioClima aims to mitigate potential ethical concerns, fostering sustainable and respectful international cooperation.

The BioClima project, bolstered by the EU-China collaboration, aims to enhance biodiversity and climate monitoring by integrating advanced AI with ground-based and remote sensing data systems. These AI-driven tools will analyse vast environmental datasets, offering innovative insights into terrestrial ecosystems and strengthening monitoring via Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) and Essential Climate Variables (ECVs). By coupling AI with traditional data sources and methods, BioClima strives to refine data models and analytical pipelines, fostering synergistic solutions for biodiversity conservation and climate mitigation, and empowering policy-making with robust, science-backed strategies for climate and biodiversity integration at both national and international scales.
