Cognitive Computing Continuum for Artificial Intelligence
The Intelligent Networks and Services (INS) team of the I-SENSE Group participates in the 3C4AI project, contributing to the development of intelligent cognitive optimisation mechanisms for the dynamic orchestration of distributed Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads across the computing continuum.
As AI applications become increasingly demanding and distributed, 3C4AI aims to enable the efficient allocation and management of computational resources across edge, cloud, High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures and AI Factories. The project addresses key challenges related to performance, energy efficiency, sustainability, security, reliability and regulatory compliance, supporting the next generation of trustworthy and scalable AI services.
Within the project, the INS team leads the design and development of advanced AI-driven decision-making mechanisms based on Reinforcement Learning (RL), Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) and Agentic AI. These intelligent algorithms will continuously monitor infrastructure conditions and application requirements, making real-time decisions on the optimal placement, migration and reallocation of AI workloads across heterogeneous computing environments.
By developing adaptive cognitive orchestration mechanisms, ICCS contributes to improving resource utilisation, reducing operational costs and energy consumption, and enabling resilient, efficient and sustainable AI infrastructure management across the computing continuum.
