Dr. Eleftherios Ouzounoglou holds an B.Sc. in Informatics and Telecommunications, received in 2009, and an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA). He has obtained a PhD degree from the National Technical University of Athens, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018. In his Bachelor Thesis he focused on the field of Machine Learning (Bayesian Networks) and during his Master Thesis on Systems Biology-oriented modeling. One of his models has been selected as the “Model of the Month” of the BIOMODELS database. His PhD Thesis focused on the utilization of Machine Learning methods for the personalization of cancer simulation models. His research interests include, among others, Machine Learning, Software Development for Desktop and Mobile devices, Data and Communications Security, Systems Biology and Multiscale Cancer Modelling. He has participated in several EC funded research projects (FP7, H2020, HE) such as TUMOR, p-medicine, CHIC, MyHealthAvatar and ZONeSEC, as a software developer and bioinformatician. He contributed in several tasks of these projects including those related to sensitive data handling, sensor integration and communications security issues as well as those of personalized cancer simulation and outcome prediction.
He has also supevised EC-funded projects coordinated by ICCS such as H2020 CyberMAR, H2020 INGENIOUS, H2020 NIGHTINGALE, HORIZON EUROPE TeamUP, the GSRI-funded (national) project coordinated by ICCS DRIC Defkalion and participated in several EC-funded projects as project manager and team supervisor incliding H2020 Aqua3S, H2020 RiskPACC, H2020 STRATEGY, H2020 EFFECTOR, H2020 CURSOR, H2020 IRIS, HE Healthy-Sailing, HE FLEXI-Cross, HE ONCOSCREEN, HE ONCODIR, H2020 PILOTING, H2020 iProcureSecurity (iTrier Consortium).
He has published a number of articles in scientific journals and conferences. He has been a member of In Silico Oncology and In Silico Medicine Group of ICCS since 2011 and a member of I-SENSE Group since October 2017, presently acting as member of the Technical Management Advisory Team supervising the Crisis Management and Secure Societies & the Health Tecnologies Teams of I-SENSE Research Group of ICCS.
