Dr. Vasileios Frantzis is a Scientific Project Manager with a background at the intersection of research, innovation policy, and emerging digital technologies. He holds a PhD in Medical Science from the University of Cambridge, where his research focused on molecular and cellular mechanisms.

Prior to joining Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), he worked at the European Commission (DG RTD) as a Policy Officer in the unit for AI in Science and Critical Technologies. There, he contributed to the preparation of the Horizon Europe Work Programme on AI in Science, including drafting call topics, analysing programme budgets, and coordinating inputs with Commission services and Member State representatives.

He also led the Mutual Learning Exercise on National Policies for AI in Science, engaging stakeholders from academia, industry and public authorities across Europe, and contributed to the preparation of an expert group supporting the emerging AI Research Council initiative.
