Dr. Chrysoula Papathanasiou is a Civil Engineer, holding a Ph.D. degree in Hydrology, an MSc in Water Resources Science and Technology and a BEng degree in Civil Engineering. She is specializing in Hydrology, Hydraulics, Natural Hazard Management, Water Resources Management and protection of Critical Infrastructure. She is an expert in flood modelling and has extended knowledge on crisis management and risk assessment of natural hazards. She has a special interest in the examination of post-fire hydrological behavior of periurban catchments and developed a methodological framework to theoretically estimate the dynamic evolution of hydrological parameters that affect flood risk as a function of time, following the occurrence of forest fires. Since April 2022, she is working with the I-SENSE group of ICCS. She is a Senior Researcher in the Crisis Management and Secure Societies (CMSS) research team and she is actively involved in the design, implementation and management of several European and National research programs.
