THESEUS at A.SPIRE Industrial Innovation Days 2026: Turning Data into Decisions for a Circular Industrial Future

How can research and innovation accelerate the transition towards circular industrial ecosystems and turn ambitious sustainability goals into actionable strategies?

On 21–22 October 2026, the THESEUS project joined industry leaders, researchers, innovators and EU representatives in Brussels for the A.SPIRE Industrial Innovation Days 2026, contributing to discussions on the future of European process industries, industrial competitiveness and sustainable innovation.

The two-day event provided a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge, showcasing innovative solutions and shaping the next generation of European research and innovation priorities. A key focus was the Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA), with participants reviewing progress, identifying emerging opportunities and co-creating the innovation priorities that will drive industrial competitiveness and sustainability in the years ahead.

Representing THESEUS, Dr. Charalampos Manousiadis, THESEUS Project Manager and Co-Chair of A.SPIRE Working Group 6 – Innovation for Competitiveness and Sustainability, participated in the P4Planet Projects Results Workshop 5, “H4Cs: Shaping the Circular Ecosystems of Industrial-Urban Symbiosis.” Moderated by Christophe Pinck, the session brought together the THESEUS, United Circles, tExtended and REDOL projects to explore a critical challenge: “How can innovative project results be translated into scalable solutions with lasting impact on European industries and regions?” During the workshop, Dr. Manousiadis delivered a pitch presentation entitled “Data to Decisions: Modelling and Policy Support for Circular Industrial Transition in THESEUS,” highlighting the project’s approach to bridging the gap between research, industrial innovation and regional policymaking.

At the heart of the presentation was the THESEUS integrated decision-support framework, designed to facilitate the planning and implementation of industrial-urban symbiosis and circular value chains at regional level. By connecting technological and industrial evidence with regional science, governance and policy development, the framework aims to transform complex data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making and accelerate the circular transition.

THESEUS’s participation in A.SPIRE Industrial Innovation Days 2026 reinforced the importance of cross-project collaboration, knowledge exchange and evidence-based policymaking in accelerating Europe’s transition towards more competitive, resource-efficient and circular industrial ecosystems.

By engaging with complementary European initiatives and contributing to strategic discussions on industrial innovation, THESEUS continues to advance its mission of transforming research and data into practical solutions that enable industrial-urban symbiosis and support the development of sustainable, resilient and circular regions across Europe.
