Key Insights from the EVENTS Final Webinar: Advancing Robust Sensing for CCAM

The EVENTS Final Webinar, titled “Tackling CCAM challenges with robust sensing”, was successfully held online on 22 January 2026 (11:00–12:30 CET), bringing together experts, researchers, and project partners from across European projects to discuss one of the most critical pillars of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM): reliable perception and decision-making in complex and dynamic environments.

Jointly organized by I-SENSE Group and Seability, the webinar marked an important milestone for the EVENTS project, showcasing key research outcomes after 3.5 years of work and fostering cross-project dialogue among leading EU initiatives in the CCAM domain.

Moderated by Elena Daskalaki, Project Manager at I-SENSE Group (CCAM Division), the session featured a series of high-quality presentations highlighting recent advances in robust sensing, V2X-enabled perception, and operational resilience for automated mobility systems.

Programme Highlights

The webinar opened with a welcome note by Angelos Amditis, Research & Development Director at ICCS/NTUA and EVENTS Project Coordinator, who set the scene for the discussion and reflected on the project’s vision and achievements.

This was followed by expert presentations, including:

  • “Beyond Line of Sight: Hybrid Validation of V2X Collective Perception in Complex Scenarios”
Bill Roungas, Project Manager, EVENTS project
  • “ROADVIEW: Toward Robust Automated Driving in Extreme Weather”
Eren Erdal Aksoy, Associate Professor, Halmstad University, Sweden | ROADVIEW project
  • “Predict to Protect: Enhancing CCAM Applications through V2X-Aided Motion Prediction”
Alberto Justo, Research Engineer, Industry and Mobility, Technalia
  • “Maintaining Awareness in a Dynamic World: Robust Sensing for CCAM ODDs”
Georgios Kolionis, Research Project Manager, EXUS AI LABS | FRODDO project & Integrated CCAM Technologies Cluster
  • “CCAM Challenges towards Large-Scale Deployment”
Giorgos Zacharopoulos, Scientific Project Manager | PoDIUM project

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to exchange views on technical challenges, deployment barriers, and future research directions.
