European Commission has officially recognised an innovation developed within the Horizon Europe XGain Project through its Innovation Radar initiative, identifying the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) as a Key Innovator contributing to its development.
The recognised innovation, titled “Network / ICT dimensioning tool for rural services”, was analysed under the European Commission’s Innovation Radar framework, which identifies high-potential innovations and innovators emerging from EU-funded research and innovation projects.
According to the Innovation Radar assessment, the innovation was classified as:
- Innovation Title: Network / ICT dimensioning tool for rural services;
- Market Maturity of the Innovation: Exploring (more details on this categorisation are provided here);
- Market Creation Potential of the innovation: Addresses needs of existing markets (more details on this categorisation are provided here);
The innovation will soon be publicly featured on the European Commission’s Innovation Radar platform, which currently showcases more than 13,000 innovations generated through EU-funded programmes.
The Innovation Radar platform aims to increase the visibility of promising European technologies and support their pathway toward market uptake, investment opportunities, and wider societal impact.
The recognition of ICCS as a Key Innovator further highlights the organisation’s active contribution to advanced digital infrastructures and intelligent connectivity solutions developed within European research and innovation ecosystems. Through projects such as XGain, ICCS and the I-SENSE Group continue to contribute to the development of technologies addressing connectivity challenges and enabling smarter, more resilient services for rural and underserved regions.
The XGain project is funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe and focuses on advancing next-generation connectivity solutions and digital infrastructures capable of supporting emerging services and applications across diverse environments.
