I-SENSE Group in the European Researchers Night 2022: Bringing our research results closer to society

Every year, it takes place in 26 countries to bring research closer to society and inspire tommorrow’s researchers. The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event, which displays the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives in fun, inspiring ways. Our researchers participated in the Researchers’ Night that took place in the National Technical University of Athens (Friday, September 30th) aiming to bring their excellent research results closer to the public, inspire tomorrow’s researchers and showcase the impact of our team work on people’s daily livers. It has been a unique opportunity to engage with citizens of all ages and raise awareness about research and its impact on society.

Dr Thodoris Thodoropoulos, Giorgos Hadjipavlis, Nikos Mitro and Lambros Pavlopoulos were there to showcase smart technologies such as the next generation of life Saving appliances and systems for safe and swift evacuation operations on high capacity passenger ships (SafePASS project) , robotic equipment, and advanced sensors reducing time for detection and rescue of victims trapped under debris while increasing the personal safety (CURSOR)  applications that can support logistic operations through localization and navigation services (5GLOGINNOv) based on machine learning technologies. They played innovative games with the younger audience and tested newly developed software applications (such as a wristband with lifesaving properties).

Congratulations to our researchers for taking part in this event and for showcasing the impact of ISENSE’s team work on people’s daily lives.
