ELABORATOR Mid Review Meeting was a success!

The new year kicks off with great results for ELABORATOR project ! Our 1st review meeting was successfully held in Brussels on 29 January 2025 in a hybrid meeting where we presented our progress over the first 18 months! Insightful presentations from the consortium partners presenting the work performed so far and valuable guidance from our project officer and the reviewers, who had only positive comments.

I-SENSE Group is proudly coordinating the project and was represented by Anna Antonakopoulou, the I-SENSEGroup Smart Mobility Applied Systems team leader and the day-to day project manager, Jason Sioutis.

Αbout ELABORATOR

The ELABORATOR project, officially titled “The European Living Lab on designing sustainable urban mobility towards climate-neutral cities,” is an initiative funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Programme. Launched in June 2023, the project spans 42 months and involves a multidisciplinary consortium of 38 partners, including cities, technology and service providers, industry and SMEs, research organizations, universities, and network organizations.

ELABORATOR aims to develop and implement innovative interventions to promote safe, inclusive, and sustainable urban mobility. These interventions encompass smart enforcement tools, space redesign and dynamic allocation, shared services, and the integration of active and green modes of transportation. A key aspect of the project is the co-design and co-creation of these interventions with vulnerable user groups, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders.

The project will demonstrate these interventions in 12 European cities, divided into six Lighthouse cities and six Follower cities:

Lighthouse Cities:

  • Milan (Italy)
  • Copenhagen (Denmark)
  • Helsinki (Finland)
  • Issy-les-Moulineaux (France)
  • Zaragoza (Spain)
  • Trikala (Greece)

Follower Cities:

  • Lund (Sweden)
  • Liberec (Czech Republic)
  • Velenje (Slovenia)
  • Split (Croatia)
  • Krusevac (Serbia)
  • Ioannina (Greece)

The primary objectives of ELABORATOR are:

  1. Collecting, assessing, and analyzing user needs and requirements to achieve safe and inclusive mobility and climate-neutral cities.
  2. Sharing comprehensive data, toolkits, and stakeholder feedback among participating cities to facilitate the adoption of innovations through a twinning approach.
  3. Developing detailed guidelines, policies, future roadmaps, and building capacity for service providers, planning authorities, and urban designers to effectively integrate inclusive and safe mobility interventions into Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs).

By focusing on these goals, ELABORATOR seeks to transform urban mobility across Europe, ensuring it is safe, inclusive, and sustainable, thereby contributing to the broader aim of achieving climate-neutral cities.
