Angelos Amditis joins the Advisory Board of the International Association of Transport Regulators (IATR)

Dr Angelos Amditis, representing ERTICO-ITS Europe has been selected to join the Advisory Board of the International Association of Transport Regulators (IATR), an international organisation bringing together transportation regulators, transport authorities, public organisations, policy experts and industry leaders from around the world, with the aim of shaping discussions and developing policies and regulatory frameworks for transport and mobility.

Dr Amditis’ participation in the Advisory Board comes at a time when transport and mobility are being transformed at an unprecedented pace through Artificial Intelligence, autonomous and connected systems, digital infrastructures and next-generation communication networks.

In this rapidly evolving environment, the role of international regulators is becoming increasingly strategic. The development of common principles, the adaptation of regulatory frameworks to emerging technologies, and the need to ensure safety, reliability, interoperability and social acceptance of AI-driven and automated systems are now critical global challenges.

The participation of Dr Amditis — ERTICO’s Chairman (also R&D Director of ICCS/NTUA and President of ITS Hellas)  in the IATR Advisory Board further highlights the increasingly active role of the European ITS community in international discussions regarding how transport systems will be regulated in the era of Artificial Intelligence, automation and digital infrastructures.

Matt Daus, President of the International Association of Transportation Regulators, stated: “I am pleased to welcome Dr. Angelos Amditis and ERTICO-ITS Europe to the IATR Advisory Board. Dr. Amditis is globally recognized for his leadership at the intersection of intelligent transportation systems, automation, connectivity, and public policy, and his decades of work advancing cooperative mobility and smart infrastructure have helped shape the future of transportation innovation across Europe and beyond. ERTICO has long served as a critical convener between government, industry, academia, and technology leaders, helping translate research into real-world mobility solutions. Their combined expertise and international perspective will be invaluable as IATR continues to foster global dialogue and develop forward-looking regulatory frameworks for emerging transportation technologies.”

Dr. Amditis said, “I am honored to accept the invitation and am pleased to join the IATR Advisory Board. I greatly appreciate the confidence you have expressed in my experience and perspective, and I look forward to contributing to the important work of the Association in advancing transportation regulation and global best practices, supporting IATR’s mission and engaging with fellow members of the Board. Looking forward to working closely with you and the IATR team.”
