On the 2nd of July 2024, Nasia Balakera, Dimitra Savanni and Angelos Stamou from I-SENSE Group visited TERNA MAG. This mining company exploits magnesite deposits in the northern part of Evia Island in Greece, producing magnesite and magnesia.
This visit was implemented as part of the MASTERMINE Project which aims to restructure the various systems of mines, bringing the mining industry on par with Industry 4.0 standards. The project revolves around six distinct axes, focusing on digital transformation (CYBERMINE), autonomous and electric operations (AUTOMINE), safety and stability in critical structures (GEOMINE), environmental sustainability (GREENMINE), building a virtual version of the mines (METAMINE) and increasing community engagement (OURMINE).
During the technical visit, ICCS partners installed the IIoT connectivity network at the open pit while DUTH partners provided a drone which carried the access point for Wi-fi extension to enhance the coverage of ICCS’ network.
