During January, Ι-SENSE Research group’s Director Dr Angelos Amditis was announced as the new Director of Research and Development in the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the National University of Athens. Dr Amditis will serve as the first to be placed in this newly created position. With more than 25 years experience in ICCS and currently holding several key positions in the field of European policy, research and the Greek public domain, Angelos Amditis has a lot to offer in his new post (find more). His appointment to this new role comes to reward more than 20 years of successful leadership in I-SENSE research group, one of the most active research groups of ICCS, and creates promises that the institution will not only maintain its competitiveness but also broaden its horizons.
“At an era when maximising the impact of research and creating room for its exploitation becomes even more crucial for the greek society and economy, research organisations should respond to this necessity with new structures and mechanisms. This position is an exciting and a huge opportunity to create new benchmarks to work towards and also take up the real challenges that come with it” he states.
Dr Amditis also holds a number of other key roles: he is also the elected Chairman of ERTICO – ITS Europe since June 2018, and a member of ERTICO’s Supervisory Board (BoD) since 2013, one of the founding members, former President and currently Vice President of ITS Hellas., member of TP ALICE’s Executive Group (BoD), Co-Chairing the TG3 “Systems & Technologies for Interconnected Logistics” etc.
