Ergonomics-focused XR training in human-robot collaborative picking lines
Building on the strong foundation of Ergon‑XR project, the Ergon‑Pick initiative—led by our Research Group in collaboration with CIBOS Innovation and recognized as one of the winning initiatives of the Master XR Open Call— Ergon-Pick will create interactive XR training modules that teach ergonomics best practices within automated manufacturing environments featuring robots and conveyors.
The rapid adoption of Industry 5.0 technologies may bring unintended consequences, including new ergonomic challenges, shifts in job satisfaction, and risks of worker displacement. Ergon-Pick will develop immersive training scenarios for the VIROO platform using the Ergon-XR tool, which will equip trainee workers with the knowledge required to co-exist with robotic systems in mixed human-machine workspaces in a manner that prioritises health and safety. The educational scenarios will be developed as interactive XR modules that teach ergonomics best practices within automated manufacturing environments featuring robots and conveyors.
