The MOSAIC (A MOSAIC OF ESSENTIAL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS (ECS) FOR OUR AUTOMATED DIGITAL FUTURE IN INDUSTRY AND MOBILITY) project aims to achieve European technological independence and digital autonomy in Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) for automated systems, aligning with the EU Chips Act. It will develop next-generation, energy-efficient, and robust cognitive ECS, focusing on integrating diverse perception hardware and fostering interoperability to gain a competitive advantage for European manufacturers. Its outcomes will be demonstrated through 31 technical showcases—ranging from global 360° perception and AI-enabled reasoning to resilient communications via non-terrestrial networks—supported by impact studies consolidating Europe’s leadership in automated systems. MOSAIC is powered by a 49-partner pan-European consortium that spans the full ECS value chain, ensuring a comprehensive approach to real-time data processing, AI-enabled decision-making, and scalable architectures. Together, the partners aim to strengthen European competitiveness by filling European fabs with advanced ECS technologies.
ICCS contributes across requirements, design, development, and validation. It leads the creation of multi-sensor and collective perception proof-of-concepts optimized for embedded environments, designs energy-aware multi-connectivity and multipath solutions including NTN support, and explores safety validation tools combining simulations and testbed trials. Beyond technical contributions, ICCS plays a key role in dissemination and ecosystem building through its leadership in ERTICO, membership in EARPA, CCAM, and 6G-IA, and engagement with ASAM OpenTest for validation knowledge exchange.
