Technical Meeting on the eBRT2030 Demo Deployment in Athens

From February 24th to 26th, 2025, a pivotal meeting took place in Athens, bringing together representatives from the Greek research partners I-SENSE Group of ICCS, NTUA, urban transport companies OASA and OSY, the Turkish bus manufacturing company TEMSA, as part of the eBRT2030 project, all collaborating within the Horizon Europe-funded eBRT2030 project (European Bus Rapid Transit of 2030). The primary focus of the discussions was the finalization of preparations for the highly anticipated Athens demonstration, scheduled for this summer.

A significant milestone was reached on the first day with a visit to the Rouf Depot, which will serve as the operational base for the TEMSA electric bus upon its arrival from Turkey, expected in the 2nd-3rd week of March. This facility will also support the bus’s charging process throughout the demonstration phase in Athens. On the second day, technical discussions took center stage during a site visit along Syggrou Avenue, tracing the project’s demo corridor from Syggrou to Tsitsifies. A crucial exchange of insights took place between OSY, OASA and TEMSA, addressing the integration of the bus into Athens’ urban transport network. The final day of meetings at OASA’s headquarters focused on solidifying the timeline for the demonstration activities, aligning partners on the next steps, and ensuring a seamless integration of the TEMSA bus into the operational landscape of Athens. The partners successfully outlined a clear roadmap, reinforcing their commitment to advancing the eBRT2030 vision for sustainable and efficient urban mobility. This meeting marks a critical step in bringing the eBRT2030 innovations to life, setting the groundwork for a successful deployment of the Athens demo.

From our I-SENSE Team/ICCS, the meeting was attended by project managers Evangelos Karvounis and Giorgos Konstantidinis.
