I-SENSE Group at RTR 2025: Showcasing Innovation in Mobility

The I-SENSE Group of ICCS had a strong presence at this year’s RTR Conference, highlighting our contributions to electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the eCharge4drivers project and to multimodal traffic management with DELPHI.

Dr. Vasilis Sourlas, Head of INS/CCAM, presented the results of the eCharge4Drivers project – showcasing its achievements in enhancing user-centric EV charging solutions across Europe – as part of Session 3: EV Charging – Advanced Solutions Benefiting Both the User and the Grid on Tuesday, 11 February.

The eCharge4Drivers presentation highlighted key insights into enhancing charging infrastructure accessibility, interoperability, and user experience. After four years of intensive research, these results provide valuable lessons for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and future initiatives in sustainable mobility. The session, moderated by Guido Sacchetto (European Commission, DG RTD) and Christof Schernus (FEV Europe GmbH), also featured insights from the FLOW, XL-CONNECT, and DriVe2X projects, which explored flexible energy systems for EV integration, large-scale advanced charging solutions, and innovations in vehicle electrification through V2X technologies. On the third day of the conference, Sofia Kokonezi of our I-Sense Group team, presented DELPHI and its Use Cases, during Session 21: Multimodal traffic management for door-to-door transport of passengers and freight. In the session, the completed pilot use case designs, such as the DELPHI Town concept, focusing on real-world multimodal traffic management applications, were highlighted. Additionally, the project’s combined passenger and freight traffic data, enabling data-driven insights for smarter traffic management strategies was discussed; showcasing how the coordination and optimization of transport systems will be achieved.  You can rewatch the full session here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWFbt1x437w

Finally, as part of the MTM Cluster, DELPHI participated in the Multimodal Traffic Management (MTM) Cluster Workshop, showcasing synergies among project partners in technology and implementation. The outcomes and experiments conducted will support the enhanced implementation of EU policies at the local level, while also helping to bring relevant issues to the forefront of the EU agenda.
