The 104th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C. – took place from January 5-9, 2025, bringing together more than 13,000 transportation experts from around the world. With over 600 workshops, thousands of presentations, and dynamic discussions, the event served as a catalyst for shaping the future of mobility and transport in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The event featured groundbreaking insights into sustainable, technology-driven, and human-centric mobility solutions. Key discussions focused on the intersection of resilience, competitiveness, and innovation, with a strong emphasis on the European perspective on transportation advancements.
The ISENSE research group (ICCS – NTUA) played an active role in the event, with I-SENSE director participating in plenary sessions and presentations. Notably, Dr Angelos Amditis and Evangelia (Geli) Latsa contributed their expertise, engaging in global dialogues on how Europe’s strategic investments, cross-sector collaboration, and policy alignment drive progress in transportation and logistics.
European Technology Platforms and Partnerships, including ERTICO – ITS Europe, were highlighted as key enablers of pan-European ecosystems that bolster innovation leadership in freight transport and logistics.
