A Significant Step for Circular Economy in Greece: launching the THESEUS Project

The kick-off event for the European project THESEUS -coordinated by I-SENSE Group of ICCS- was successfully held in Athens. The event took place from December 3 to 5, 2024, at the Serafio Sports & Community Complex in Athens, marking a significant milestone in advancing the circular economy model in Greece.

The opening day was open to the public, drawing a large audience from the political and public sectors, industry, research, and business communities from Greece and across Europe. Throughout the meeting, the prospects and future of the circular economy and sustainable waste management were highlighted, showcasing best practices and challenges faced in the Attica region. The importance of the THESEUS project as a flagship initiative that will lead to the creation of the first Circular Economy Hub in Greece was also emphasized.

During the event, major companies like Athinaiki Brewery, Plastics Thrace, and Clean Energy Ltd, among others, shared their experiences and practices in the field of circular economy.

THESEUS, consisting of a dynamic consortium of 52 partners from across Europe, aims to develop an innovative circular economy model that will start in Attica and expand throughout Greece. The creation of the first Collaborative Circular Economy Hub will lay the groundwork for new opportunities, enhanced collaboration, and regional sustainable development.
