Lazaros Gkatzikis holds an Engineering degree in Telecommunications, a Master’s degree in Computer science and a Phd on network optimization from University of Thessaly, Greece.
He has worked as a senior standardization specialist at Nokia Bell Labs, serving as a 3GPP standardization delegate. In 3GPP, he has been the rapporteur of work items related to railway applications and the support of mission critical services over 5G. He has also worked as a Senior Research Engineer at the Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab of Huawei on the design and implementation of optimization-based algorithms for SDN & NFV products.
Since 2008, he has participated in numerous European Projects, was the lead writer of 2 funded EU projects, and has served as the technical manager of FP7 European project FORLAB. His focus on applied research has resulted in numerous standards contributions, more than 30 publications, tens of patent applications, and 3 demos at premier industrial conferences. His research interests include optimization and algorithm design for networked systems.
