Tom Papaioannou

Tom photoTom Papaioannou is an undergraduate student at the University of Patras and studies at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is working on his diploma thesis, which is about analysis and forensics of Android applications, to complete his integrated Master. He is interested in the development of mobile and VR/AR applications and games. In the past, he had created a 3D game for Android phones, leveraging the Unity 3D Engine, which is uploaded in the Play Store, and he had his internship at Nokia Networks Hellas, where he was part of a team creating AR applications for smart glasses. He currently works as a Junior Researcher and Developer at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) and more specifically he is a member of the Research and Development Team of the I-SENSE Group.


Emmanuel Vasilopoulos

VasilopoulosEmmanuel Vasilopoulos received his Electrical and Computer Engineering Master’s degree from the N.T.U.A. in 2020 and has a passion for music. His thesis suggests a blueprint for an automatic deejay, a system that can mix songs with Artificial Neural Networks. His scientific interests focus on Machine Learning and Software Development. Emmanuel’s purpose is to solve problems and work with other people to achieve this. He became a member of the i-SENSE Group of I.C.C.S. in September 2020 and he is working as a researcher and developer.


Dr. Dimitra Dionysiou

Dimitra DionysiouDr. Dimitra Dionysiou is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She holds a diploma degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (NTUA), a PhD in In Silico cancer modelling (NTUA), and an MSc in Bioinformatics (Faculty of Biology, University of Athens).
She has worked in the development of ICT technology in healthcare, focusing on cancer modeling for personalized medicine, mainly within the framework of EC-funded projects (e.g. BOUNCE, CHIC, DrTherapat, MyHealthAvatar, p-medicine, ACGT).
Her research interests include mechanistic and machine learning modelling for personalized medicine, predictive analytics and decision support systems. She has published more than 75 journal and conference articles, and has strong experience in R&I proposal submission. She has served as an Expert Evaluator of Horizon 2020 proposals (2020), MAESTRO grands (NSC Poland, 2017), and various peer-reviewed publications.

She has been a member of the ISOG&ISM Group since 1999 and a member of I-SENSE Group since October 2020.


Panagiotis Blanos

Panagiotis BlanosPanagiotis Blanos is a researcher specialized in Biomedical Engineering. He holds a BEng in Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering (2007) and an MSc in Digital Communication Systems (2008) from Loughborough University, UK. He has also obtained, with distinction, an MSc in Biomedical Engineering (2013) from the University of Patras in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens. He has just finished his PhD studies (2020), in Loughborough University, focusing on the Effect of Thermoregulation on Physiological State revealed from Multi-wavelength Illumination Photoplethysmography during Induced Different Temperature Stimuli and Physical Activity.

Panagiotis has a high level of understanding and training as an Electronic Biomedical Engineer in cutting-edge new health technologies, with a particular focus on the research and development of opto-electronic sensors for real-time monitoring of human body vital signs. At the same time, he has achieved significant professional experience and progress, as a Telecommunication and Electronic Systems Engineer, in innovative applications where he has also demonstrated remarkable managerial skills in various business sectors in the United Kingdom and Greece. Recently (2020) he has become a member of the I-SENSE Group.


Dr. Tina Katika

Tina KatikaDr. Tina Katika is a Project Manager at ICCS since September 2020. She holds a diploma in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering (University of Patras). She has obtained a Ph.D. degree from the Technical University of Denmark and has worked as a researcher in Colorado School of Mines. Until 2016 she was a researcher and consultant for Maersk Oil and Orsted, which led to significant innovations in the oil and gas sector.  She is an author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications at scientific journals and international conference proceedings.

For the past four years, she has been working as a Product Owner and Project Manager at Labster, focusing on the field of gamification of education using virtual lab simulations. Tina is experienced in agile development processes and product management (market research, product development, and customer experience) in VR/AR products that have reached users in multidisciplinary sectors (universities, healthcare, and corporates).

Charalampos Manousiadis

ManousiadisCharalampos Manousiadis is a Researcher-Project Manager in the I-SENSE Research Group of ICCS and a PhD Student in Regional Development at the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean. He holds a Diploma degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has worked as a Development and EU funding Consultant at EuroConnect and as a Technology Consultant at Accenture. He has served as elected Municipal Councilor of Keratsini-Drapetsona (2 terms, 2010-2019).


Dr. Nikolaos Katsoulakos

KatsoulakosDr. Nikolaos Katsoulakos graduated from the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2004. He holds a MSc in Environment and Development. He completed his doctoral thesis in the field of energy optimization in 2013, in the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of NTUA. In 2018, he completed his postdoctoral research in decentralized energy planning, funded by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). Since 2008 he has participated in several research projects (Horizon, ERC Starting Grants, COST, National Projects) and has published 35 peer-reviewed papers in books, scientific journals and conferences. He also teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in NTUA and in the University of Athens. Since 2005 he runs a self-owned business focusing on energy, electrical and mechanical systems in buildings. From September 2020 he has joined the I-SENSE group, as a researcher/ project manager in the Crisis and Security management team.

Stefania Giannikou

Stefania Giannikou has obtained her Diploma degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). In her Thesis she focused on the field of Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Modeling and Model Predictive Control. She also holds an MSc. in Digital Anthropology from the University College London (UCL, UK), where she did extensive research in the field of human-computer interaction combining technical understanding of digital systems with anthropological research methods. She has served as senior IT consultant, business analyst, requirements engineer and project manager in various ICT related European projects, and has also experience in the design and operation of water treatment plants, wind farms as well as in the media production industry.
Stefania joined ICCS/i-sense Group in 2020 working as Project Manager for European projects in the field of Crisis Management and Security.


Dr. Evangelos Karfopoulos

KarfopoulosDr. Evangelos Karfopoulos received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the NTUA in 2006. He received the PhD degree for his research on the "Optimal Management of Electric Vehicles for their efficient and effective integration into electricity networks" (NTUA, 2017). From 2008-2019, he worked as senior researcher at ICCS in the e-mobility area, distributed optimization and java programming. He has actively participated in several European projects undertaking the role of Technical Coordinator in many of them, and national projects with HEDNO. He has been employed by the PPC and the HEDNO as researcher on e-mobility aspects and metering specifications. Moreover, he was external consultant of the HEDNO for e-mobility aspects (2016-2019) developing the technical specifications for public charging stations as well as an OCPP 1.6 compliant EVSE platform. Furthermore, he served as Senior Researcher at Intracom-Telecom focusing on distributed energy flexibility markets. He served as a tutor in (Asymmetric) Power System Analysis courses in ECE-NTUA. He has published a number of articles in scientific journals and conferences with more than 700 citations. Currently, he is serving as Senior Project Manager at I-SNESE research group, NTUA.


Angie Kantzou

Angie Kantzou is currently studying Greek Civilization at the Hellenic Open Univercity. She was an employer at the accounting departement of ICCS (2002-2012). She has been the owner of an event planning business (2012-2020).
