The I-SENSE group of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is currently recruiting a Software Development Engineer to work in a range of European-funded projects. We are seeking for a dynamic, sharp, highly motivated individual with passion for innovation and creative solutions. He/she needs to have a proven track record of following schedule and performance objectives and to exhibit leadership from conception phase through implementation and validation.
Qualifications:
- Electrical and Computer Engineering degree, Informatics or equivalent
Technical Competencies:
- Proven experience with at least one of the following Object Oriented Programming Languages: Java, C++ (in an order of preference)
- Experience in designing and developing client-server and ideally web services applications (e.g. exposure to SOAP, REST, XML, JSON)
- Hands-on experience with networking and security services: e.g. NAT, VLANs, DHCP client/server, IPv4/IPv6, VPNs, SSL, IPSec, public key encryption
- Understanding of basic wireless communications technologies and protocol stack for GSM, GPRS, WiFi, 802.15.4/Zigbee
- Hands-on experience with networking and security services: e.g. NAT, VLANs, DHCP client/server, IPv4/IPv6, VPNs, SSL, IPSec, VoIP, public key encryption,
- Understanding of basic wireless communications technologies and protocol stack for GSM, GPRS, 3G/4G/5G, WiFi, 802.15.4/Zigbee
- Experience with embedded Linux operating systems and embedded processors will be considered as an additional asset
Additional desirable skills:
- Knowledge of Javascript and of relational or NO-SQL databases
- Good written and oral English language communication skills
- Working Experience in EU research projects or research environment will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of semantics and reasoning technologies
